Playdough Marble Maze

This activity is a low-setup engineering challenge with unlimited possibilities! Your kids will have fun problem-solving and practising their fine motor skills as they design and build a playdough maze for a marble or other small ball.

You will need: Playdough or lots of sticky tack, a metal or plastic tray and a small ball.

Here’s how it’s done:

  1. Talk to your kids about the materials they’ve got to work with and lay out the challenge! They’ve got to try and design a marble maze that the marble will be able to travel all the way through from start to finish. They will be able to tilt the tray in different directions to help the marble move the right way.
  2. Give them some time to come up with a design! My tip is to test their maze regularly so they can be sure it will work at the end.

Once they’ve finished this activity, keep the playdough for next time!
